Do you wear a mask?
Don't we all?
In our everyday life we want to be seen in a certain way. We create a certain character and put on a mask. Sometimes we have a whole bunch of them and juggle them depending on a social situation.
It could be a mask of confidence for someone very vulnerable, or a mask of a certain type of beauty on someone already beautiful. Maybe it’s a mask we don’t even think about. Maybe we are so used to it that it becomes our real face.
BROKEN is about the link between the mask and the inner self. Whether it’s broken, or the mask you are wearing won’t fit, or the fact that without it you don’t know who you are anymore.
The exhibition / installation / experience is now shown in a small underground space in our studio in Hamburg and features a corridor of 6 small paintings that lead you to one large painting on a denim jacket in the back of the room. The space is decorated with ropes in shibari style by kinkycookie.
